About Us

For over fifteen years, Rainmaking For Lawyers has advised individual attorneys and law firm leaders on how to reach their business and financial goals in the context of what they want out of their lives. As former lawyers, management, business development, and IT professionals, we understand how the legal industry has changed, and we use that knowledge to help our clients navigate business development, marketing, and human resources decisions toward gaining more control over their practices.

Our coaches assist with everything from big-picture strategic planning to the details of how to maximize the benefits of your marketing and business development efforts, client communications, and conference presentations. We support our clients through regular one-on-one calls and are responsive as issues and questions arise in between, working with attorneys locally in Southern California, throughout the country, and overseas. We’ve been serving law firms since 2004, and we can help you and your firm to build a practice that matches your goals.

Who We Serve

Our individual clients range from solo practitioners to Am Law 200 partners, and we consult a number of managing partners in growing their practices. In many cases, our clients have earned success on their own and are looking for structure and strategy toward expanding their books of business in non-incremental ways. Our ideal client is willing to be guided a bit out of their comfort zone to create systems and habits that will reduce frustration, make more efficient use of their time on marketing and managerial tasks, and result in workflows that fit better with their life.

We have been fortunate to work with many clients over extended periods of time. We have strategized with long-term boutique clients to compete on state, regional, and national levels, while others hire us to handle more specific situations related to succession planning or the founding of new firms. Some of our clients have been working with us in excess of five or ten years as we have become their trusted advisors in growing their firms in line with their lives and priorities.

How We Work

From a free initial consultation, we develop a proposal of strategies for achieving the goals our prospective client has identified. We identify top priorities and draft a plan for implementing each step based on data of the client’s past revenues and referral sources and where that client is looking to go. Depending on the needs of each client, we offer varying service models that include individual coaching on an hourly basis, strategic planning and group coaching on a flat fee, and several hybrid options designed to efficiently meet the aims of the consulting arrangement.
